Inside Modo: What Brands Are Selling Right Now

Every day at Modo, hundreds of pieces come through our doors. One of the fun parts of working in consignment is getting a real-time snapshot of what people are actually wearing—not what magazines say is trending, but what Portland women are reaching for over and over again.

As June comes to a close, a few styles have really stood out.

Linen is still king.

No surprise here. We can barely keep beautiful linen pieces in the shop. Easy button-downs, relaxed trousers, oversized dresses, matching sets—if it's linen and in great condition, it usually doesn't stay on the rack for long.

Brands like Frank & Eileen, Flax, CP Shades, Bryn Walker, Eileen Fisher, and Jenni Kayne continue to be some of our most requested.

Comfortable shoes are winning.

Our customers want shoes they can actually walk Alberta Street in.

We're seeing lots of interest in Birkenstock, Camper, Veja, Gola, Nisolo, and interesting leather sandals that work with everything from jeans to dresses.

Color is back.

After a long stretch of neutral everything, we've noticed more people reaching for color this year. Tomato reds, butter yellow, sage green, cobalt blue, and playful prints have been some of our favorite arrivals this season.

Handmade and independent brands continue to shine.

One thing we love about Portland is that people appreciate thoughtful design. Pieces from smaller designers often sell just as quickly as big luxury labels because they're unique, beautifully made, and don't look like everyone else's wardrobe.

Vintage never goes out of style.

We hear it almost every day:

"I just want something nobody else has."

That's one of the reasons we love resale. Every visit to Modo is different, and you never know what you'll discover. One day it might be a vintage Pendleton jacket. The next day it's a Dries Van Noten dress or the perfect broken-in leather bag.

That's the fun of it.
